In the routine operations of Microsoft Dataverse, records or transactions are frequently deleted, whether manually or automatically, intentionally or inadvertently, through system processes, individual selections, multiple selections, or bulk deletions. Recovering deleted data can be challenging, and records are not always restorable.
Now, to overcome this challenge, Microsoft has released a new feature to recover the deleted records from the Recycle bin within the specified configurable time frame.
Note:
- This is a preview feature.
- Preview features aren’t meant for production use and may have restricted functionality. These features are available before an official release so that customers can get early access and provide feedback.
- This feature is currently being deployed and might not yet be available in your region.
In this article, will explain the step-by-step process to enable this feature and how to recover the deleted record in the Microsoft Model-driven app.
Pre-requisites:
1. Create a browser profile in Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome.
If you have already have a browser profile, skip this step.
2.Create Power Platform 30 days trial and select the Environment Type as Preview to see this preview feature.
If you already have a Power Platform Environment, you can skip this step.
Follow the below steps after the Pre-requisites.
Step 1: Open Microsoft Power Platform Admin Center.
Step 2: Click on Environments.
Step 3: Choose the Preview (United States) Environment and Click on Settings.
Step 4: Click on Product and Click on Features.
Step 5: Scroll down to the bottom to see the Recycle Bin (Preview) feature.
Step 6: Click on it to enable and provide the time interval to retain the data for the mentioned period.
I have provided the max days as 30.
Step 7: Scroll down to the bottom and Click on Save to save this feature.
Setting is being saved.
Step 8: Once the Saving is done, open Power Apps Maker Portal and Click on Apps.
Step 9: Open any Model driven app by clicking on the play button.
Step 10: Click on Challenges.
Step 11: Select any record and Click on Delete.
Step 12: Click on Delete.
Now the record is deleted.
Step 13: Go back to Power Platform Admin Center and Click on View Deleted Records (Preview) under Settings.
You can see the Deleted records information here.
Step 14: Select the record and Click on Restore.
Step 15: Click on Restore.
Record restoring is in progress.
Once the record is restored, you cannot see any records.
Step 16: Go back to Power Apps and Click on Refresh.
Recovered record can be seen here now.
