Selecting the right columns in a view is important, but column layout plays an equally important role in usability. Dynamics 365 and Power Apps provide several ways to rearrange and resize columns so data is easier to scan and compare.
Rearranging Columns
Columns can be reordered in multiple ways:
- Through the Edit Columns experience
- Using left and right movement controls
- By dragging column headers directly within the view
Direct drag-and-drop is often the fastest approach and works similarly to rearranging columns in Excel.
Adjusting Column Width
Column width can be adjusted using menu controls, but it can also be resized visually by dragging the edge of a column header. This allows users to give more space to longer fields while keeping less important columns compact.
Saving Layout Changes
Changes to column order and width are temporary until saved. Users can save these layouts as personal views or update existing views, depending on permissions.
